Fall is here! Does that mean everyone should darken their hair? A common misconception is just that. Going for a darker hair color in the fall does not necessarily suit everyone. In fact many people have a much harder time adjusting to their hair going darker, than lighter. Especially women over 40. With age, darker hair can sometimes make one look older rather than younger.
So what is this fall hair color thing all about? Think warmth. In fact, think of the colors of fall leaves. Fall color trends for 2019 include golds and crimsons. A drastic color change is not necessary for fall, but rather tweaking your color into a warmer hue with a few low-lights or even a tinted conditioner.
Warm colors — such as red, yellow, and orange; evoke warmth because they remind us of things like the sun or fire. Cool colors — such as blue, green, and purple (violet); evoke a cool feeling because they remind us of things like water or grass.
So what if you feel you look better in cool colors? Go for a merlot or burgundy low-light. The purple/violet hues will look great against your skin tone, and still bring in a fun change for the season!
